My Ideal is Windy (2023)

Quadraphonic installation commissioned by Experimental Sound Studio and the Chicago Park District

My Ideal is Windy is a reflection on real and imagined places. I hadn’t lived in Chicago before I moved here two years ago, but I was born here and my parents have always talked about their life here. Well before the time I decided to move to Chicago, I already had a fleshed out picture of the city that I had inherited from the memory of my parents. The installation is a way for me to reconcile my past imagined and current realistic perceptions of Chicago and express the conflicting emotions that emerge from that experience.”

Created while Artist in Residence at ESS
